Abandoned Millstones at Stanage Edge, by Night

These millstones have laid at this spot since the collapse of the millstone manufacturing industry in the nineteenth century. They lie at the south eastern corner of Stanage Edge, near Hathersage.

The detail shot shows the Blue Circle cement works over 5 miles away as the crow flies, near Castleton.

At the reduced size shown here, the stars are difficult to see in the sky except for one or two particularly bright ones. However, in the full size image they fill the sky and are much clearer.
